Terminology Tuesday (Tricks of the Trade) — No Parking Sign

(Note: I think it’s important to know the terminology and words used when learning any new business including mobile home investing. I came up with ‘Terminology Tuesday’ as a way to go over the terminology used in the mobile home business. It’s important to know the terminology when talking to people in the business so you’re all on the same page).

**** Tricks of the Trade is a new series I have started that will be included with “Terminology Tuesday” posts. The goal of this series is to share with you the “tricks of the trade” I have learned in the mobile home business.

If you’re a subscriber to my newsletter, you’ll know of an event that recently happened. Someone ran into one of my porches (ouch!) on one of my homes I’m fixing up.

Here’s a picture of the damage done:

Not fun. Seriously…

To make a long story short (which was described in detail in the newsletter), I filed a police report and put in an insurance claim on the porch.

Through this ordeal, I had to get estimates from contractors and make arrangements to meet with the insurance adjuster.

(Note: By the way, if you’re interested in learning about working with contractors I talk more about it here. Thanks for reading!)

In order to avoid any further damage to the home, I decided to make my own “No Parking” sign. I got this idea from one of the parks I work with: they do the same thing when fixing up homes.

So, I’ll share with you step-by-step how to make your own “No Parking” sign.

Here’s what you’ll need:

Step 1: Make two vertical holes side by side using the hole puncher at the top and bottom of the sign.

Step 2: Use a zip tie and wrap it through the holes and around the sign post to secure it on both the top and the bottom holes.

Step 3: Take your sign along with a mallet and/or hammer to the site placing it into the ground.

And, there you have it. How to make your own “No Parking” sign. Easy right?

(Note: When making your sign, be sure to write in the police phone number in the space provided to give it the full effect. Hope that helps!)

I hope this “Terminology Tuesday” post has been helpful and has given you some useful information – it definitely has for me.

Happy investing!
