Terminology Tuesday (Tricks of the Trade) – Glass Replacement
(Note: I think it’s important to know the terminology and words used when learning any new business including mobile home investing. I came up with ‘Terminology Tuesday’ as a way to go over the terminology used in the mobile home business. It’s important to know the terminology when talking to people in the business so you’re all on the same page).
**** Tricks of the Trade is a new series I have started that will be included with “Terminology Tuesday” posts. The goal of this series is to share with you the “tricks of the trade” I have learned in the mobile home business.
Since I’m fixing up yet another mobile home (due to a take back), I’ve come across another broken window. It came to my attention through my handyman who is an essential part of my mobile home investing team.

What to Do With a Broken Window
In cases like these, you want to take the broken window including the frame to a window supply store. You may need to call around before choosing a company to work with.
For me, it was my handyman who pointed me in the right direction. He gave me the name and number of the window supply store and told me to take the broken window with the frame there.
Good thing it was not too far from the home I was fixing up. It was literally right down the street!
(Note: If you’re not sure where to take a broken window, you may want to check with your local mobile home supply store. They work with these types of companies from time to time and may just have a few referrals for you!)
Window Glass Replaced
Before I went to the window supply store, I gave them a call. I told them that I had been referred to them by my handyman. I explained the problem and told them about the broken window.
They told me to bring in the entire broken window within the frame and they’d take care of it. So I did.
I left it there overnight. And picked it up the next day.

Driving Back with the Window Glass Replaced
As I was driving back to the home I was fixing up (which was very close) to drop it off, I was very careful when driving. I placed the window in the back trunk of my car and removed anything that could have damaged the glass just in case. I didn’t want to take any chances of having the glass damaged…again!
Once I got back to the home, I put it aside in a safe place (aka a bedroom closet). I still needed to fix up a few things not to mention clean the windows before I put it back in. Mission accomplished.
