#1 Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki

This is the book that started my real estate investing journey. Through this book, I learned the concept of passive income. The vehicle he chose just happened to be real estate. But the concept can be applied to anything. Definitely a must read book for anyone just starting out!

#2 Cash Flow Quadrant by Robert Kiyosaki

Another one of Kiyosaki’s books, this one is more of a business book than anything. It taught me the different personality types when it comes to business. Very thought provoking and another must read book for anyone just starting out as a real estate investor. Buy this book today!

#3 The Richest Man In Babylon by George S. Clason

A classic business book. It taught me the importance of hiring the right people for the job. The concept can be applied to anything. But it’s especially important to learn as a real estate investor. Add this book to your reading library!

#4 Real Estate Riches by Dolf De Roos

Yet another book in the “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” series. (Do you see a pattern here?) This book is a good overview on the process and procedures involved when looking for and buying real estate investments. It’s a short and simple read. Check out this book!

#5 The Millionaire Real Estate Investor by Gary Keller

This book was given to me as a gift. It’s a pretty thorough read with over 400 pages (wow!). To me, it’s more of a “how-to” book more than anything. It talks about finding properties, managing them, and the business of real estate investing. Definitely a book to check out!

#6 Flipping Properties by William Bronchick and Robert Dahlstrom

Back when I first started wholesaling, this book was one of the first books I picked up. It’s a very quick and short read on the subject. But it gives a good overview on the house flipping business. A good book to start with if you’re just looking into this area of real estate investing. Pick up a copy of this book today!

#7 Rental Houses for the Successful Small Investor by Suzanne P. Thomas

Early in my career as a landlord, I picked up this book. It’s a very eye-opening book. What’s special about this book is the importance of buying investment properties in nice areas and good neighborhoods. Even if it means paying more than if you would have bought in a lower-end community. Personally, I learned this lesson the hard way when I bought my $2000 nightmare. Definitely check this book out!

#8 Deals on Wheels by Lonnie Scruggs

If you’re a longtime reader of this blog, you’ll know how this book had a big influence on me. Though I had a chance to invest in mobile homes early on in my real estate investing career, I passed on the opportunity which I talk more about here. It wasn’t until several years later when I picked up the book again and reread it that I started investing in mobile homes. Having met Lonnie himself, he became a mentor to me. #9 How I Turned $1,000 into Five Million in Real Estate in My Spare Time by William Nickerson

A classic real estate investing book. This is one of the earliest books that got me interested in real estate investing. It talks about the business of trading up your current real estate investments into bigger ones. What I like about this book is that it shows you how to start from ground zero with no investments and teaches you how to transition to smaller and then bigger investments as you progress in your real estate investing career. Definitely a book worth checking out!

#10 Nothing Down for the 2000s: Dynamic New Wealth Strategies in Real Estate by Robert G. Allen

Yet another classic real estate investing book. This is also an earlier book that got me interested in real estate investing. Here I learned the concept of owner financing and the business of real estate investing. It’s a good overview of the business and what you can do if you have very little money to get started investing in real estate. A good book if you want to be in the real estate investing business for the long term!
