Book Review: Real Estate Investing Gone Bad

(Note: Recently, I’ve had a lot of folks contact me asking what the difference between some of Lonnie’s as well as other mobile home investing materials out there and which one I’d recommend the most. So, I’ve decided to go ahead and start a new series of posts – book reviews.)

Since I write books on the realities of real estate investing, I decided to check this book out. And guess what? It wasn’t too far from the truth.

Like I’ve said before, real estate investing isn’t easy. Unfortunately, most people think it is especially when it comes to making easy money. But that’s not the case at all. This book shows you why.

What I Liked About the Book

The stories are relatable to investors whether new or experienced.

In the book, there are many different types of stories of real estate investing gone bad. Not only are there residential deals mentioned but commercial ones as well. Whether you’re new or experienced, there’s something to learn from these stories. Even as an experienced real estate investor with over a decade of experience, I learned some tidbits from the stories read.

The book has an easy to follow format with short chapters.

Another plus of the book is it’s entertaining and easy to read. Stories get to the point. And chapters are short. There’s no filler or fluff: just common sense language. Since each chapter is a story, you’ll be able to finish it in between appointments or during downtime. Then you can pick it back up when you’ve got time learning a new lesson and story along the way.

Each chapter has a summary of lessons learned.

After reading a story, you’ll find a summary of lessons learned at the end of each chapter. As a reader, I appreciate these parts of the book because it serves as a reminder of what not to do from each story. It also gives you a chance to gloss over what was learned when going back to reread sections of the book.

Conclusion

Whether you’re new or experienced, there’s something to learn in this book by everyone. Some of the stories are similar to ones I’ve heard. Though, there are others that are not. As an experienced investor, those are the ones that make reading this book worthwhile. If you’re looking for an entertaining and quick read on the ins and outs of real estate investing, you may want to give this book a try!

(Note: If you’ve read the book, let me know what you think. I’d love to hear your thoughts on it!)

I hope you enjoyed reading this book review. With the high amount of requests for my opinions on these, it’s something that I’ve decided to start doing from time to time.

Happy investing!
