(Note: Recently, I’ve had a lot of folks contact me asking what the difference between some of Lonnie’s as well as other mobile home investing materials out there and which one I’d recommend the most. So, I’ve decided to go ahead and start a new series of posts – book reviews.)

Since I’ve been having issues with animals (as explained in the last post!), I wanted to share with you an issue I’ve been going through from the last couple of homes I’ve taken back and have been fixing up…bed bugs. Yuck!

Honestly, I’ve never encountered this issue. Though lately, it’s my cleaning crew who have found these bed bugs. And usually, it’s when people leave their stuff behind and don’t take the time to clean out the home when they move out.

(Note: Believe it or not, I’ve taken back homes in great condition…with upgrades and everything. Though, I guess you can’t win them all!)

So after doing some research, I found this book. It helped me a lot.

What I Liked About the Book

It dispelled the myths about removing bed bugs.

Contrary to what most people think, companies that specialize in removing bed bugs may not remove all of them on the first treatment. It may involve multiple treatments which costs time and money.

The book also describes the different types of treatments used by these companies citing their pros and cons. It’s unfortunate to hear stories about families who used these companies only to find out the bed bugs came back which left them no choice but to shell out more money for another treatment.

Here the author shares with you his own experience with his family and the process he used to effectively remove bed bugs from this own home.

(Note: Talk about stressful. Can you imagine living with these bugs?)

The book described how to determine if you have bed bugs in your home.

Believe it or not, some people think they have bed bugs. Though, in reality they do not.

Actually, there are bugs that appear to the human eye to be bed bugs. Though, there are certain characteristics bed bugs possess.

The author goes into the different types of bugs which may look like bedbugs but are not and how to distinguish them.

It went into how to determine a bedbug infestation and how to contain the problem.

Aside from telling bed bugs apart from other bugs, the book explained how you can determine whether or not you have a bed bug infestation and if you do how you can contain the problem.

What I learned the best thing to do is not to allow the bed bugs to spread to other parts of the home. This can become very difficult to remove. Though, not impossible!

So, it’s very important to contain the bed bugs. In the book, the author shows you how.

It gave step-by-step instructions on the process of removing bed bugs.

Through experience, the author guides you through the process of removing bed bugs including the products and materials to use. After much trial and error, he was able to find out what products worked better than others.

What I enjoyed about this part of the book was the various options he laid out. For each method, he gave both the pros and the cons. And he shared his favorite and most effective one.

It included a bed bug supply manual at the end and frequently asked questions section.

In addition to the information on removing bedbugs, the book also has a bed bug supply manual citing resources to obtain all of the supplies mentioned as well as a frequently asked questions section.

Personally, I found this section helpful in my own quest to remove bed bugs from the homes I’ve been fixing up!

Conclusion 

If you have a bed bug problem or if you’re interested in reading more on the subject, definitely get this book.

The information and resources here can save you a lot of time and money. Personally, I used some of the methods in one of my most recent fix ups. So far, so good. Haven’t seen a bed bug come back yet!

(Note: It’s easier to remove bed bugs in vacant and empty homes. From the book, you’ll learn these bugs like to cling on to furniture and feed on hosts. If there are no people in the home, then there’s no food available. And they eventually leave or just die!)
