Update: Mobile Home Fix Up, Podcast Interview and Course

Happy Friday! Hope all is well wherever you are. 🙂
Well, I’ve got another update for you this month. But just in case you missed it, you may want to read the previous update.
As usual, I’ve got a lot on my plate. So, what have I been doing? Let’s get to it…
Mobile Home Fix Up
If you remember from the last update, I had been waiting on the kitchen cabinets on a mobile home fix up. And, I had done some electrical work on the home.
Though, I had bought the wrong types of electrical outlets. Mobile homes require “self contained” electrical receptacles, not the regular kind used in single-family homes.
So, I had to buy the parts which I did online. Here’s what I got:
Electrical Outlets, Light Switches and Wall Plates

All in all, I bought 18 electrical outlets, 3 light switches and 21 wall plates which are all mobile home specific and “self contained.”

One of the reasons I had to get the wall plate was because they are mobile home specific parts. Unfortunately, you can’t just use any wall plate with these light switches and electrical outlets.

As you can see, there are prongs on each side of the wall plate. These prongs snap into the top and bottom square holes in both the electrical outlet and light switch parts that I bought.
Pop-In Boxes
Another item that I bought were the pop-in boxes, just in case they were needed as advised by my electrician.

Installing Electrical Mobile Home Parts
Once I got all of the parts needed for the electrical work, I called up my electrician and scheduled a time for him to come out. Here are the results:

(Note: There’s a bit of dust on these but they’ll be wiped down during the “cleaning phase” of the fix up.)
As an added bonus, there was an opening for an outlet not being used. I was going to cover it up myself with a blank wall plate. Though, my electrician did it for me (at no charge) since we do so much business together. Pretty cool, eh? 🙂

As you can see, changing out these electrical parts can make a world of difference when I put these mobile homes on the market. Since I work in high-end parks, the types of residents I deal with have a higher standard of living (versus other types of parks).
Kitchen Cabinet Work
Other than the electric, I mentioned in the last update that I had been waiting on some kitchen cabinets to come in. Well, guess what?
The specific type of cabinets my cabinet contractor ordered were discontinued. So, we had to look at other options in terms of the kitchen layout and getting different cabinets.
Initially, I was going to keep the cabinets that were already there…the old cabinets. And, buy new ones which would match. Though, this was not possible as the ones we ordered were discontinued.
New Kitchen Cabinets
When my cabinet contractor ordered the new kitchen cabinets, he sent me a picture of them next to the old kitchen cabinets:

Obviously, this doesen’t look right. There was no way I could even match the old cabinets to the new cabinets which was what I wanted to do. With these cabinets, I had no other option than to purchase additional cabinets to replace the old cabinets. Otherwise, the home would not show well.
(Note: The new cabinets have been stained as they came as regular wood.)
So, I did. And my cabinet contractor is working on the rest of the kitchen cabinets:

Removal of Old Kitchen Cabinets and Countertops
One thing my cabinet contractor has to do is remove the old kitchen cabinets and countertops. I’m replacing the entire kitchen with new cabinets and countertops. So, these ones have to go:

(Note: My plumber will re-plumb the piping here once the new kitchen cabinets and countertops have been replaced. He told me to just have the cabinet contractor make sure the pipe is sticking out of the hole of the new cabinet when installed.)

(Note: I’m getting rid of the kitchen sink as well. This one had unnecessary holes in them at the top for some reason!)
So, here’s what we’re working with right now:

Podcast Interview
Aside from the mobile home fix up, I also did a podcast interview on one of my all-time favorite podcasts:
